James writes SharkPunt’s sportsbook reviews, shortlists and sport pages. He has spent years on crypto and betting sites, and he hunts down the best price on a line before he writes a word about the book that offers it.

What James does

James is the person who builds a SharkPunt page from the ground up. He starts with the numbers a bettor pays for – the margin on main markets, the depth of each sport and the real cost of a bonus – and only then writes the verdict.

His working rule is simple: if two books offer the same match, the page should tell you which one gives you more for your stake. That is where the name fits – he hunts the better price so you don’t have to open five tabs.

  • Odds and margins. Samples main lines on Football (soccer), NBA, NFL, Tennis and Ice Hockey and works out the margin each book keeps.
  • Sports and markets. Counts which sports and market types a book lists, from Asian handicap to player props and outrights.
  • Bonus maths. Turns rollover, minimum odds and expiry into plain turnover figures, so you can see what an offer costs to release.
  • Shortlists. Writes the filter pages – by sport, coin, market and feature – and explains why each #1 sits where it does.

A big welcome offer is easy to spot. A book that shaves a point off the margin on every Premier League game is harder to find, and over a season it matters more.

How we work together

Nothing on SharkPunt goes live on one person’s word. James writes every page, and Dan Hoffman checks it before it is published. The steps below are the same for a review, a shortlist or a guide.

  1. James researches and writesHe collects the book’s sports, markets, margins, coins and terms from its own pages and builds the draft around them.
  2. Dan verifies the factsDan checks every payment figure, limit, coin, network and bonus term against the sportsbook’s cashier and terms, and flags anything he can’t confirm.
  3. Gaps are fixed or markedA figure that can’t be confirmed is removed or shown as “not stated” – it is never estimated.
  4. The page is published and kept currentWhen a book changes its terms or adds a coin, the page is updated and the change goes into its “What changed” box.
